My trip to Iceland wa not a birding tour but I found some birds never the less. Start out with Greater Scauo. I found this couple in a rather large dam in Reykjavik. It was a "photographic" lifer to me. So I was pleased. Trip to Iceland started out well. This one looks rather much like the Tufted duck but has no "tuft" and differs a little in colors.

ReplyDeleteThey are really great birds and lovely shots in the sunlight.
ReplyDeleteWe had greater scoups in our lake this spring ... interesting that they are also in Iceland.
ReplyDeleteNice that you saw them for the first time ... quite a treat.

It is nice when you are able to get photos of your lifers.. I have the Lesser Scaup but not the Greater!
ReplyDeleteCongrats! These are beauties and rare to Arizona but still a treat.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful record for these lifers. Love the droplets on their backs!
ReplyDeleteGreat looking ducks. Glad you found these lifers when you weren't really birding.
ReplyDeletelovely get a lifer and photographed in great light.
ReplyDeleteWonderful shots. So many times the lifer gets away without a photo, or gets away with only a blurry or lousy photo to show for it. Well done!
