This duck was the reason why I went to Båtsfjord, Varanger, Norway. I wanted to see this pearl among birds for a long time and when the opportunity came I could not miss it. This bird was really a curious one. It could swim close to the openings in the hide and take look at us. Especially the males. It did not let me down for a minute.

I spent a few days in Båtsjord to watch the arctic birds from a hide. We spent the time in the hide but also went on a small boat to catch them in flight. I´ve seen them before but not wild like this. And I have not see the one year old before.
Båtsfjord is located as far north as you can get in Norway. Even higher up then Sweden.
